2). !Feature article on her written by Clem Thompson, A Remarkable Life Aunt Polly Sharpe, published in the Free Press, Mt. Pleasant, IA, 21 July 1904. Article states that John Hancock, signer of Declaration of Independence was her grandfather s uncle. Great grandparents were Clem and Isabelle Hancock sons William, John, Clem and Jim all born in SC. Her grandfather, William, was Revolutionary Soldier under Andrew Jackson, killed in Battle of New Orleans. Mary Heple says Uncle John was not the signer of the Declaration of Independence. She also says Willliam was not listed as killed in Battle of New Orleans.
