NOTES
1). According to Eugene Perry, Richard Grogan bought 80 acres oflandfrom Nathaniel Goss, Lot 164 west side in the 5th Dist., 2nd Sec.ofwhat then was Gilmer Co., Originally Cherokee Co., for thesumof$120.00 on 9 2 1948 Recorded in book J Page 144, Gilmer Co.,There wasan old log house on this ground as late as 1910 and acemetery a shortdistance from where the old house stood. In thiscemetery is a markerwith R.G. on it and a marker with the name ofSarah Padgett, born8 22 1881. Also a small son, Alfred Grogan isknown to be buriedthere.
2). Five of Richard and Edy Grogan  s sons fought in the Civil War.Williamnever returned.
