NOTES
1). 18401.ged Robert Harrison Cozort & Phebe moved to Wayne Co. Missouri about 1835 and settled on the banks of Lost Creek, about a mile from the village of Shook. Their land was a homestead grant from the United States. In later years Robert owned two sections of land and tax recods indicate he was prosperous. The 1880 census shows that Robert and Phebe were both 67 and that only David and his wife and daughter were living with them. They both died about 1885 Robt. & Phebe are said to have moved to Missouri by ox cart. At about the same time time, James Cozort, beleived to bve Robert s brother, moved to Wayne Co. and is listed in the 1840 census with three children. There are several records of land transfers from Robert H Cozort to his sons and sons in law in the 1860s and 1870s, including one to David in 1876.
