1). Jesse Bartholomew moved to Lee, Massachusetts as e a r l y a s 1783, when he was admitted to the church there , h av in g be en previously baptized. Here moved to Herkim er C oun ty , NY , and thence to Locke, Cayuga County, befo re 17 98 . I n 180 6 he settled in Dryden, Tompkins County , NY , whe re h e remai ned until his death. He was a farme r, a nd a B aptis t and i s said by his children to have b een s o even temper ed as nev er to have been seen in a pa ssion . He wa s the fa ther of fi fteen children and grand fathe r of som e seventy . His son s were all men in th e full s ense of t he word t he last wa s born in time t o make hi s father s s eventieth y ear glad . He died jus t after eat ing a heart y breakfast, 2 4 January , 1846, a t age 83.
