He wa s inves ted w ith tha t sh eriffalty by King Henry I., an d obtaine d a gra nt fro m the s ame monarch to whom he wa s a stewar d of al l the l ands bel onging to Roger de Wor cester, wit h a confi rmatio n of certain lands given to h im by Adelis e, widow o f his f ather in law , the said Urs o de Abitot. This marriage happened after the Conquest for at th a t t i m e the General Survey was made, the name of Beauch am p i s n o t once mentioned as lord of any manor in Engla nd . Bu t Ur s o de Abitot had manors almost in very part o f i t.
