Th e fa ther , called Le Normand, or simply Norman, had four s ons , Hugue Hugh Hugo , Roger, Reynaud and Robert. Hugh an d Re ynaud st ayed in Normandy in the senior family domains . Th e family a dopted the surname Moreton in Normandy. Th e fath er, and son s Roger and Robert, were at the Battle o f Hasti ngs. Betwee n them, they were granted 38 lordship s in Shrop shire wher e they assisted Earl Roger in the adm inistratio n of his dom ains in that county. Roger Corbet b uilt a bord er fortress a t his Castle at Alfreton which h e named Cau x Castle after h is home domain in Normandy. I t was later s pelt Cause. The h oldings in Derbyshire of th e father, call ed Norman, Roger t he second eldest son an d Robert the youn gest son, both son s sometimes listed a s FitzCorbet, are li sted together as fa mily domains. The y were under tenants o f Earl Roger in Shro pshire.
