In 1838 he moved to Michigan, settl i n g first in Springfield Township, Oakland County, where he was just i c e of the peace. He later moved to Bridgeport, Saginaw County, where he was t o w nship supervisor, justice of the peace, postmaster and state representati v e a nd senator. 2).
