NOTES
1). bobspu.ged Genealogy by Otis Doyal Spurgeon, Clinton Co. IN Birthdate given in Apple database as 17?? Scott Family History, by Walter Scott in Frankfort Library, Frankfort IN p3 This branch of the family is not so well recorded as that of Owen Scott, at least by this writer. In all probability Jacob Scott miagrated from Pennsylvania to Indiana via Hamilton Co. OH. On a land grant record in Marion Co. IN Jacob Scott is listed as being from Hamilton Co. OH. He settled in Marion Co. according to all available sources of information, not so very far away from the home of Jacob Scott, second son of Owen Scott. This fact comes from information furnished by Alexander Joseph Scott Uncle Joewho remembers visiting Uncle Jakes every few weeks. Also the intermarriage of the two families Jacob Scott Ann Scott makes the location seem about right. The story is told by Elroy Scott, grear grandson of the above named Jacob 1 who now lives in Boone Co. IN. that prior to the Civil War his grandfather Alexander Scott sold or traded a tract of Land in Marion Co. IN for a tract in Missouri and in the summer of 1860 they all loaded in, including Jacob Scott and migrated to Missouri. Due to the highpitched feeling between the north and south, they found Missouri neither a very safe or pleasant new home, so they turned around and came back to Indiana, In the meantime Jacob Scott 1 had taken ill, en route and had died wherenobody knows. NOTE 1 The will of Jacob Scott is on file in Marion Co. IN court house. Will record 6 page 276. Written July 6 1860 Recorded Nov 7 1860 David Huff Executor.
