NOTES
1). From the MASSACHUSETTS GAZETTE of Oct 2 1766 A son of C a p tain Clark was killed by a Sperm Whale near Georges Ba n k s a few days since. The Whale struck the boat at the bo w s w ith his head, with great force, throwing the young m a n wh o stood there ready with his lance, into the mouth of the Whale, whic h t u rned and made off with him. He was heard to scream b y hi s f ather, who commanded the boat, as the fishes jaw s close d ab out him. This son was Tully.
