Planter of St. Helena s Island, married, first , Elizabeth Fenwicke,January 30, 1766 second, Anne Hutson , May 8, 1777. Captain in First Provincial regiment in 1775 resigned captain, then major in Col. Benjamin Garden s m ilitia regiment captured at fall of Charles Town in 1780 released by general exchange. AfterRevolutionary War, br igadier general of Fourth Militia regiment, 1793 to death . Second Provincial Congress, 1775 1776. First General Ass embly, St. HeIena s, 1776. S.C. Senate, St. Helena s, 1778 80, 1782 88, 1791 1800 died. Justice of peace. Justice o f quorum. Member of state convention to ratify Federal cons titution, 1788.
