1). Charles Pinckney was a lawyer and lieutenant of militia du ring the Revolution. He was captured at Charleston in 178 0 and held prisoner until the end of the war. He served mor e than twenty years in the South Carolina legislature, nin e years as governor, four as U.S. senator, and eight as U.S . congressman.Frances and Charles Pinckney s son, Charles Pinckney 1757 1824 , married Mary Eleanor Laurens 1770 1794 daughter o f Henry and Eleanor Ball Laurens. He was one of the fou r Delegates who represented South Carolina at the United St ates Constitutional Convention in 1787. He served four term s as governor of South Carolina.
