1). bobspu.ged one source had his Date of Birth as 7 Feb 1755 Source Joan E Kohrman Addison, Nov 1995 John Spurgin settled on Muddy Creek in Sullivan Co., Tennessee in 1782 then North Carolina and was among the second group of Justice of the Peace appointed by Gov. Blount. He served as a representative of the state of Franklin. John owned a mill at the mouth of Muddy Creek and according to deeds was a large land owner with numerous slaves. Muddy Creek is now located West of Blountville, Sullivan Co., Tennessee. A two story home was built in 1789. The plantation consisted of 1,350 acres at John s Death in 1803.
