Newspaper item re fatal accident via Wilma FOLTZ BIO Mrs. FOLTZ has furnished a photocopy of the newspaper account of the accident which killed Alan Lewis MOORE. The name and date of the paper was not given. Alan s birth date has been calculated from the time of the accident. TRUCK HITS TREE DRIVER, 31, DIES A 31 year old Clay Twp. motorist became St. Joseph s 20th traffic victim of the year when the pickup truck he was driving went out of control and rammed a tree at about 5 40 a.m. today on Ironwood Rd. about 1 mile north of Cleveland Rd. Alan Lewis Moore of 51010 Forestbrook Ave., was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Harry A. Ludwick, Deputy St. Joseph Coroner. Moore died of head injuries suffered in the crash. Deputies said Moore was northbound on Ironwood Rd. when the wheel of his truck suddenly drifted off onto the shoulder of the highway and threw the vehicle out of control. He had just traveled over a rise in the road. The truck then veered approximately 93 feet across the center line to the opposite of the roadway into a tree. Impact of the crash threw Moore from his truck. The vehicle was sliced in half. SPEED IS ESTIMATED Deputies estimated the speed of the careening auto at about 60 miles per hour. The body was found about 18 feet north of the front half of the truck. Officials said their first impression was that Moore may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
