ANNA LAWSON DIES AT HOME NORTH OF CITY Aged ladyVictim of Heart Trouble Leaves many survivors Funeral Plans Mrs. Anna Eliza Daggett Lawson, aged 75, died at her home five and a half miles north of this city on the Michigan Road in Richland Township Wednesday evening at 11 30 o clock after two months illness caused by heart failure. Every aid known to medical science was used to combat the disease but because of the victim s age all efforts proved to no avail. The deceased was born in Richland Township on September 4, 1852 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Mowe. She attended Whippoorwill school. When she was 20 years of age, she married Charles Allan Lawson, who preceded her in death two years ago. Her entire married life, Mrs. Lawson spent in Springfield, Ill., moving to this county after her husband s death. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Rough of South Bend, and Mrs. Nellie Julian of Arlington, Kansas, three sons, Fred Lawson and Harry Lawson of Springfield, Ill., and Eddie Lawson of Meridan, Miss., three brothers, Samuel Mowe, Cornelius, Oregon, Marion and Dave of this city and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Weir of Rochester and several grandchildren. Pending word from relatives who live at distant points no funeral arrangements have been made. Burial will be made in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Richland Cemetery. Thurs. May 31, 1928 This obituary makes no mention of Anna Eliza s first marriage. Per Mrs. FOLTZ, she first married Robert Daggett in Sept. of 1871. This would have been when Anna was about 20 years old as mentioned in the obit. Robert died in 1881 and Anna married again to Charles Lawson in March 1882. Lawson is not mentioned in the above obituary other than he died about two years earlier. In data supplied by Mrs. FOLTZ and Ms. WILLIAMS, Charles Lawson died in South Bend two years after Anna. It would appear that they were not living together at the time of her death. Charles is also buried at Richland Center. Source Elizabeth Ann Gilchrist Jun 1998
