1). major in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. during World War II. see notes for more bobspu.ged BIO George E. Brown graduated from Manuel High School, Indianapolis. He attended Butler University, Indianapolis and graduated with a B.S. from Indiana University in 1937. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1940. Dr. Brown served a year s internship at the I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis, followed by a fellowship in internal medicina at the Indianapolis City Hospital. Dr. Brown served 45 months as a major in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. during World War II. 33 months were spent overseas. In 1942 he was sent to Trinidad, B.W.I., where he served for 20 months as a medical officer and adjutant of the 255th station hospital. In 1944 he left for the Pacific theater of operations as chief of madicine and later commanding officer of the 75th field hospital on Okinawa. He then served on Ie Shima as island surgeon. Dr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Greenwood, IN. When he returned from the military, he opened his office as a general practioner at 308 West Main Street, Greenwood. He relocated to 374 S. Madison Avenue, Greenwood, until his death. This office is now occupied by Dennis Kevin Brown, Attorney, one of his sons. Dr. Brown served on the board od directors of Franklin Healthcare Center. He had been the medical director of Greenwood Village South since its opening in the early 1960 s until the time of his death. He was a member of the staff at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, IN. He married Helen Creeden on February 26, 1944. They met while both were serving in Trinidad. Lt. Creeden was a member of the Army Nursing Corps. They had two sons George E. Brown, Jr.,M.D. and Dennis K. Brown.
