2). bobspu.ged Individual note 1. The Family Tree of William F. & Virginia PHELPS O DELL , unpub. genealogy by O.L. & Beverly WARREN BIO Stories told of Doris mischief as a child are plentiful among the GILCHRIST family. Doris and Jean GILCHRIST seemed to enjoy each other when they were children. What Jean did not think was great fun Doris or one of Red O DELLs sons or the WARREN boys did! Claudia GILCHRIST was often the target of some of their antics. There were reports of hanging from the barn loft to spit upon the head of timid Claudia . There are other reports of Doris and Jean helping to throw the less aggressive playmates out of the loft. Still other stories tell of using sticks to flip cow manure on others. Doris also helped give unplanned haircuts to some of the other cousins. She was not exactly a shy, retiring child. Yet, Doris was the apple of her father s eye. Doris returned the love and loyalty by caring for her father in the years of his declining health. She was always there for him as he had been for her in her younger days.
