2). bobspu.ged BIO Mr. HEINLE reports that Elizabeth LAY was born in 1841however her age on the 1850 census was given as 6. Eva McCARTY gives 1843 as the birthdate for Elizabeth, and the 1870 census enumerated 14 July gives her age as 26. Mr. HEINLE had given Elizabeth s spouse as James H. CURNUTT.This is the spelling used for the 1870 census record, too. Researching 1860 census for Campbell County, TN on microfilm, Jan., 1997, compiler located the household of David CORNUTT , 50, farmer, born in TN. Along with his wife, Drucilla, there are five others enumerated in this household. Among them is 18 year old James H. CORNUTT . This family resided in the area of the Fincastle, TN post office, three households before that of John and Mary O DELL LAY. In the LAY household, there is a 16 year old Elizabeth. It is likely David and Drucilla CURNUTT are the parents of Elizabeth s husband, James H. CURNUTT. The 1870 census for Campbell Co., TN shows James and Elizabeth living next door to Elizabeth s mother, Mary Pauline O DELL LAY. Enumerated in their household were James, 3 Kate, 2 and Mary 2 12. Per the 1880 census, the CURNUTTs are 38 and 37 years old respectively there are seven children in the household ranging in age from seven months Sarah H. to 13 years James M. Concerning Elizabeth, Eva McCARTY writes as follows ELIZABETH, was the third child. She was born in 1843. She married a man by the name of James H. CURNUTT, on July 7, 1862 in Campbell Co. TN. They moved to Globe, AZ. They also lived in Livingston, AZ where James was Postmaster Sept. 17, 1896 Mar. 7, 1905 ...Elizabeth and James had eight children...Elizabeth and James are buried in Globe Cemetery, Globe, AZ.
