NOTES
1). bobspu.ged BIO The birth year of David CURNUTT has been calculated from his age as it appears on the 1860 census. The CURNUTT family was enumerated just three households previous to that of John Jack LAY, the father of Elizabeth LAY who married James H. CURNUTT in 1862 in Campbell County, TN. Per the 1860 census, David CURNUTT s son, James H. was 18 years old in July, 1860 when the enumeration was done. Compiler has made the assumption that David and Drucilla CURNUTT were the parents of James H. Compiler found a David CURNUTT on the 1830 census for Grainger County, TN. Enumerated in this household were 2 males under 5, 1 male 20 30, 1 male 4050 amd one female, 20 30. This may have been David, his wife and his father, but this is strictly speculation! The 1870 Census for Campbell County, TN, shows an A.J. CURNUTT, 30 with wife, Tabitha, and a 24 year old Nancy CURNUTTenumerated in the household just after Lindsey and Louisa O DELL NELSON. Calculating A.J. s year of birth from his age on that census, this may be another son of David CURNUTT, and the Nancy may be an unmarried daughter. REF 1.
