SerialVolume John Bly served in the Eighth Virginia Militia under Col. Muhlenberg for over two years durin g the Revolutionary War. He participated in the battles of Brandywine and Germantown and spen t the winter of 1777 78 at Valley Forge. John lived for a while on Cedar Creek but after hi s marriage to Barbara lived at the Boehm homestead on Mulberry Run, west of Strasburg and i s buried in the old Boehm cemetery. He was a carpenter.
