Ankrom, 70, of Washington R.D.4, Amwell Town ship, died at 10 55 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 1997, at home. He was born May 18, 1927, in Jefferson Township, Greene County, a son of Charles Winfield an d Charlottie Phillips Ankrom. Mr. Ankrom live most of his life in Washington and Greene counties and was a member of Jeffer son Baptist Church and a former member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He was a 40 year member of Local 66 International Operating Engineers, a member of Waynesbur g Elks Lodge 757, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 461 in Waynesburg, James Farrell American Legio n Post 330 and VFW Post 4793, both of Waynesburg, Masonic Lodge F&AM153 and Syria Temple AAO NMS. Mr. Ankrom was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marines. Working through the International Operating Engineers, he worked for various construction com panies. The majority of his time was with Pace Pipeline, Delmont, retiring after 40 years i n 1992. His first wife, Helen Buckingham Ankrom, died April 26, 1982. On June 12, 1986, he married Beatrice Smith Barnhart Ankrom, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Amos of Jackson, N.J. three sons, Phillip S. Buckin gham of Langeloth, John R. Ankrom of Waynesburg and David G. Ankrom of Boyertown three steps ons, Shirl Barnhart of Clarksville, Duncan and William Barnhart, both of Carmichaels 13 gran dchildren, Cheryl DeAngelo, Kevin Amos, Nicholas, Nathan, Alex and Lyddia April Louise Ankrom, Tammie Moore, Eric Buckingham, Melissa, Rebecca, Matthew, Katie a nd Paige Barnhart six great grandchildren and two sisters, MarthaWhittington of Charleston , W.Va., and Dorothy McNeely of Jefferson.
