One of Hiram s sisters, who was born after the marriage of the parents, disputed this settlement or her husband did on her behalf . It was at this point that Hubbard filed a paper with the court declaring that he knew of his own knowledge that Hiram and four of his siblings were born of the body of one Sarah Brinkley before the benefit of matrimony with said James Cozart. James and Sarah were born on 23 Aug 1796. Hubbard was likely casting a question as to whether this sister was in fact Hiram s sister at all.
