1). mytree.FTW He lived in Henry County, Iowa in 1855 and then Ringgold County, Iowa where on 4 July, 1861 he and his father enlisted at Mt. Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa for three years in Company G, 4th Regiment Iowas Volunteer Infantry. He served in Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. By authority of General U. S. Grant, his regiment was authorized to inscribe, First at Chickasaw Bayou on the Regimental Colors. The service of this regiment was usually strenuous. While the Regiment was in Louisiana, Henry became ill from exposure and hardship and was sent up the Mississippi River to a hospital to recover. He died on the steamer Louisians a hospital boat, before it s arrival at Cairo, IL. He was buried in that place.
