Floyd Spurgeon Funeral services were being planned Thursday at Parrott & Wood funeral home for Floyd Spurgeon, 51, of Sherwood Park, who died at 4 30 p.m. at home, Wednesday of carcinoma. He had been ill since last November. He was born July 9, 1897, at Lake City, Iowa, the son of John and Eliza Spurgeon. A lifelong resident of Lake City he married Olive Holm there, February 20, 1918. Six years ago he moved to Waterloo and became an employee of the John Deere Wateerloo Tractor works. A member of the Falls Avenue Wesleyan Methodist church, he is survived by his wife two sons, Carl and Dorse, Sherwood Park, three brothers, Arthur, Brownsdale, Minnesota, Water, Rose Creek, Minnesota and Willard, Lake City. 2).  bobspu.ged  Taken from the Waterloo Courier, Friday, October 10, 1986, Page A6  Olive L. Spurgeon Cedar Falls    Services for Olive L. Spurgeon, 86, of 1410 Hawthorne St., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Spurgeon died Wednesday  Oct. 8  at Satori Memorial Hospital.  She was born May 4, 1900, in Lake City, daughter of George and Louisa Nelson Holm. she married Floyd Spurgeon on February 20, 1918, in Lake City. He died in 1949.  Survivors include two sons, Carl L. and Dorse L., both of Cedar Falls  six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a brother, Otto Holm of Lake City  and a sister Helen Swink of Sac City  she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gus, Ed and Carland four sisters, Anna, Ida, Bertha and Nora.  Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home and for an hour before services at the church Saturday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 30 p.m. today.
