1). He is almost certainly son of William and Catherine Herndon as shown 1 . He is sometimes in correctly claimed to be child of a LordHarrington . The person most frequently mentioned in this regard seemsto be John Harington, son of John Harington of Kelston e.g. 2 , who is known to have stayed in England 3 and who wasn t actually a Lord at all although of a noble family.The person whose involvement with Virginia may have served as the originof this claim was probably John, Lord Stanhope of Harrington, Councilor of Virginia, who wasn t aHarrington but a Stanhope 4 .
