e-familytree.net is my personal genealogy hobby site. The data contained here has been gathered through 20 years of genealogy. It contains everyone I know who are connected to European Royalty or Nobility. Some small part of it is my original research, but most of it has been generously shared with me!

It is important to understand: This is SPECULATIVE DATA. Most of it is unverified. Use it for hints and pointers, but DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!!!

You can leave a comment on each page here. If you want to be notified when this site changes, you can leave contact information here. I can always be reached at the mailing address above, or by email at genealogy at e-familytree.net.

I've added a changelog so you can see what's upcoming here.

NOTES
1). The birth year is incorrect. There is no record of when he was born thus far. Hiram M CLAYPOOL was born in 1819 in VA. He appeared on the census in 1840 in Berrien, MI. By 1820 the family was in TN where the birth of Hiram s brother, John, occurred. Cass, MI land records show that Hiram left the family and moved to MI before April 3, 1832. Since a birth year of 1819 would make Hiram a 13 year old land owner at this time, one must be suspicious of the recorded year of birth. It has previously been assumed that Rebecca Sanders, third wife of Joseph, was the mother of Hiram. However, if Hiram s birth year is incorrect, he could possibly be the son of second wife, Margaret Hanley. Additional investigation is required to document Hiram s birth and parentage. The 1840 census shows Hiram living in Berrien, MI as a man between the ages of 20 30. This could place Hiram s birth between 1810 1820. Unfortunately, Hiram died before the 1850 census so an absolute age cannot be determined from census records. No record of Hiram s date of death or location of burial has been located, but his son William s Civil War pension application indicates that his father died when he was three years old. This would place Hiram s death about 1844 or 1845. After Hiram s death, Sarah married J.P. Philander Barnes, a widower with four children. She raised her two children, Philander s four children, and eight children born to her after her second marriage. Uncommon for that time, only one of the fourteen children died during childhood. The combined family operated Barnes Mill near Otis, LaPorte, IN. NOTE Information on this line provided by Lola Cannon Troutman and Donna Meyers Nelson.
