William Kethley, Jr. Wythe County Marriages, 17901850, Athens, GA Iberian Publications, 1985, p. 45. !Esther, daughter of Matthew Gleaves and niece of William, was put under guardianship of William in 1771 after the death of her father living in Augusta County at the time. Esther s brother, Matthew, was placed as an apprentice with John Finley, wheelright, 24 January 1775, in Augusta County.
