NOTES
1). The Fred Millis book states that Benjamin was probably born in Culpepper Co. Viginia son John born in Culpepper , and that he first maried Elizabeth Lee and then L. Greene said to be the sister or General Greene. He had 29 sons and 2 daughters and was the uncle of General George Rogers Clark and William Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Benjamin was well set financially probably because his father bequeathed him and his brother Johh, substantial land and funds. Benjamin then began acquiring land in Lunenburg County in 1764, there is a considerable record of him and his progency in those records. Apparently Benjamin then passed substantial funds to his children because son John was well off.
