1). The Obituary in the Wellington Daily News states that he came to Sumner County in 1873. OBITUARY FOR William E. Haines from the WELLINGTON DAILY NEWS dated February 9, 1952. William Ellington Haines died at 9 20 A.M. this morning at a local hospital. He was born February 19, 1867 and came to Sumner County Kansas in 1873. He has been a long time resident of Anson community, being a farmer. Haines was a member of the Friends Church in Wichita. He is survived by his wife, Leila Haines, two daughters, Mrs. Orie Love, Clearwater and Mrs. Henry Riner, Clearwater and four sons, John Wesley Haines, Wichita, Everett Haines, Wellington, Harold Haines, Wichita, and Eugene Haines, Anson two brothers, John Franklin Haines, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Charlie O. Haines, Wichita. 30 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon from Frank Funeral home at 2 00 p.m. with John Wright, Argonia officiating. Burial will be in Green Castle Cemetery, Northeast of Anson. He was a farmer, blacksmith, carpenter, music composer. He played the violin and sang in men s quartets. He was a founding member of the Greencastle Friends Church Quaker in Anson, Kansas.
