LETTER FROM FRED L. JONES
JULY 6,1991
AGE 93
Dear Folks-
My father - E.V. Jones and George Emberton were cousins. When my father sold our farm, where I was born, he bought a farm across the road from George's farm. So we were neighbors, and being relatives we had many pleasant contacts and visits.
After some years, George sold that farm and had moved to South Missouri. Hobart their oldest son, and I kept contact with our letters. We wrote pretty regularly, and kept doing so as long as he lived. Their address was Flemington, Mo.
I made one visit to see them down there. This was in August, 1932.
I have kept a diary for many years. For Sunday, August 28, I have this recorded: "stayed all night at George's. He and I talked until nearly midnight." Hobart and George operated a garage, repairing cars.
For Monday I have recorded this: "Having a good visit today. Talked to Lillie a while and went on to garage. Talked to Hobart and George. Arther & Alfred VanWye came over. Arther and Alfred and I went over to see Billy Emberton about 2 miles from Humansville. Stayed about 1/2 hr. Got back for dinner at George's. Hobert & family there too. In pm had visit with Lizzie Harris, Papa's cousin. In eve went out for picnic and swim & supper, on the Pomme de Terre river. Arthur and Alfred went along.
-Tue,30th, Left this morn for home. Have had a good visit. Sorry to leave so soon.
This my last contact with George, but there are many good memories.
For myself, my wife Blanche and I met when we were students in College at Kirksville. We were married in 1925. She died in 1980. At the time of her terminal illness on our 55th aniversary she said " We were good for each other, and we had a good life." So true, and that was the 'Book' for us. We had three children, Walter, Keith, and Louise (where I am now in her home). Walter and Keith are in the Los Angeles area and I make good visits out there yearly. I was in school work, teacher, also principle. Blanche and I were in school work. I a Principal and she a teacher in the school for 3 years in Hawaii at a very fortunate time for us.

Death of Mrs. B.F. Alexander - The Prague News - Front Page. Mary Elizabeth Jones was born in Texas County, Missouri, June the 9th,1857 and was married to B.F. Alexander January 24, 1877. To thisunionwere born eleven children. Six are now living and was present atherfuneral. Five had preceded her. She leaves a husband andsixchildren, 22 grand children, one great grand child, and onesisterto mourn her departure. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ ashersavior while young and lived a devoted christian life to the end.Likethe Apostle Paul she fought a good fight and kept the faith andwasready to meet the Lord. On Feb. 24th, 1923 the death angel visitedthehome and called her from labor to rest. The funeral sevices wereheldat Shady Grove on Feb. 26, in the presence of a large andsorrowingcongregation. The funeral was conducted by the writer, W.R.McElvaney.
