Andrew enlisted in the Army at Albany Ohio. Company C, 36th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He participated in the BNattle of Antietam and was wounded at the battle of Chicamauga on the right side and right arm. He was discharged 31 Dec 1863 due to his wounds.
In 1854, Andrew moved to northern Illionois where his first two children were born. they returned to Ohio a few years later. In 1866, Andrew and James Clark left Marshfield, Ohio and went to Neosho Co, KS. In April 1867 the women followed them to Kansas with the children. Andrew took up 160 acres of land there and farmed. In 1903 they moved to Topeka, Shawnee Co, KS.
