He taught elem entar y s choo l fo r several years and spent most of his l ife fa rmin g. O n 8 J un 1904 he married Nervie Louise Fo ster, d aught er o f the Ho norable Sidney Herbert Foster a nd Louis a Rut h (Dud ley) Fost er of North Calais, Vermont . Nervi e Was bo rn 10 A pril, 186 7 in Calais, Vermont an d died a t their fa mily hom e in Kent' s Corner (Calais) , Vermont o n Decembe r 10, 1917 . The home w as what use d to be and i s now resto red as th e Kent Tavern M useum , operated by th e Vermont Hi storical S ociety. He marri e d secondly on 2 5 February, 192 2, Mytie A . Slayton, a wid ow , who died i n the 1950's. The y resided i n Montpelie r Vermon t, wher e he was employed b y the City o f Montpel ier in the P ubli c Works Department . In 1925, whil e work ing overhead i n t he city barn, he fe ll through the c eil ing and broke h i s leg. He died 26 Dece mber, 1925, age 49
