Samuel's first wife Peninah Robinson died in 1857, Sam is buriedbesideher. His gravestone has no readable dates. Apparently he soldhisplace, moved in with his father, and remarried, all about 1860.Afterhis death in 1861, Sam's second wife Sarah J Looperbecameadministratrix of his estate. Ten years later Sam's brotherThomasLooper petitioned the court to have the estate distributed toSamuel'sbrothers and sisters who were now heirs to the estate, sincethe widowhad remarried. This was done in January 1872.
1861 Feb 9: Obituary: Death from vaccination - We regret tolearnthat Mr. Samuel Looper, a worthy citizen of this district, diedlastweek from the effects of vaccination. He had exposed himselfmorethan was prudent, which is probably the cause of hisdeath.Mortification took place on his arm. (Issue of Saturday Feb 9,1861)
