Here's the first of what I have on all these Patton / Webb connections.
This first note will be on Charity Patton / David Webb.
Uhhhh....Charity's a mystery in our Tree. I'm fairly certain she's from our branch of Pat tons -but where she fits is the question. Some say she's a daughter of Francis & Ruth (Parke ) Patton - that would make her a sister of John & Israel. HOWEVER she is not mentioned in Fra ncis' will - this is where the doubt comes in.
John & Israel had another brother named Robert who definately had a daughter named Chari ty. She ran off after a family disagreement and was never heard from again - although she i s known to have married and had a son named Frank. However, her birthdate is listed much late r than the Charity who married David Webb.
See... it's a puzzler.
I am attaching here a brief text taken from a book David Agricola wrote which covers ou r Patton family. He addresses the Charity Patton / David Webb family unit. Unfortunately, wha t's written here is all I've been able to uncover on Charity Patton. No one in my network o f Patton researchers can definatively place her in the tree.
This will probably not help much, but enjoy the info for what it's worth. (OH - and b y the way - the article mentions Charity is buried with other Patton family members. That wou ld be Andrew Patton - another brother of John & Israel. He stayed back in (W.)Virginia (Harri son Co.) while the others moved on to Ohio. If you desire the location of the church / buria l ground, let me know - I think I've got that info in my data on Andrew.
My outline of Charity & David's family group will fall under my gedcom file on Jonas Web b & Children, which I am also including here. This is all the info I have on Jonas Webb Jr . & both wives / families. (Note - I include the last name of his first wife - as given me b y the contact I have who is descended from Israel Patton. This last name is NOT confirmed b y me as of yet.)
