Calkins. Mary Etta Maharg and Morri s Aus tin Maha r g (sist er and brother of Mahala) were wit nesses . LeRo y wo rked fo r Burlington Railroad for 24 ye ars an d retire d in 1 934. Hi s funeral was held at Umbur ger Cha pel in Li ncoln , Nebraska . Rev. Walter Nath off iciated.

Mahala may have been born in Mineral Springs, Ohio. M a h a l a (or possibly Mahalia) was operated on August 24 1 9 6 0 a t a ge 90 for a perforated ulcer at the Luthern Hos pi ta l i n Gra nd Island, Nebraska by Dr. Richard LaMay. S h e ret urne d to t he hospital on November 14, 1960 and w a s releas ed o n the 23 rd.
On June 3, 1964, Mahala and Sarah Augusta Wright mo v e d t o O maha, Nebraska. William Armstrong Wright and W il be r Wr igh t Carter helped them move. Four months late r W ilb er di ed . Services for Mahala were held at the Ma rc y Mort uary C hap el at Ashland, Nebraska Cemetery wer e sh e is bur ied. R ev . Inez Lacy officiated. Pallbear s were : Mario n Scoggins , D onald Wright, William Scoggin s, Dea n Wright , Keith Evan s, a nd LeRoy Evans. William S coggin s has a ph oto of Mahal a an d LeRoy's headstone.
Mahala's nickname was Mae. Poetry written by h e r i s i n m y possession. She wrote a poem each year on h e r bir thda y.
