Son of PETER MANIGAUILT ( 1731-1773); father of GABRIEL HENRY MANIGAU LT ( 1788-183 5 ); grandson of GABRIEL MANIGAULT (1704-1781) and JOSEPH W RAGG (d. 1751); grandfather of GABRIEL EDWARD MANIGAULT (18 33-1899); brother of JOSEPH MANIGAULT (1763-1883); son-in-l aw of RALPH IZARD (1742-1804); father-in-law of LEWIS MORRI S, JR. (d. 1863); brother-in-law of NATHANIEL HEYWARD (1766 -1851),HENRY IZARD (1771-1826), RALPH IZARD (1785-1824), an d THOMAS MIDDLETON (1753-1797).


General Notes for Child Joseph Manigault



  The second son of Peter Manigault and Elizabeth Wragg, Jo seph, married a daughter of Arthur Middleton, the signer, w ho soon died leaving no issue.  He then married a daughte r of Charles Drayton, of the well-known South Carolina fami ly. The fruit of that union was eight children, of whom th e only daughter married Thomas House Taylor, afterwards rec tor of Grace Episcopal Church, New York city.
