BIO: Peter MOCK, Sr. born in Germany, came to Bedford County, PA; then to Rowan County, NC. in 1786.  He settled on the Yadkin River and became a big land owner.  Deeds of record start in Rowan County; later purchases and sales are found in Iredell and Surrey Counties.  This was caused by the fact that the latter two counties were formed from Rowan County so it was possible for a place of residence and property holdings to change counties without the owner moving from his house.

General Notes for Child Henry A. Mock Sr.

BIO: Henry and Catherine settled on Dutchman's Creek near the west bank of the Big Yadkin River at what was called Mock's Ford.  Here they lived, attended church and had their children baptized. They owned a fine home and had slaves which were treated right.  They gave to their children a man and woman slave when they married.  A male slave was worth about $1000.00 and a female about $1500.00.  Henry was a farmer and died on the farm where he and Catherine started housekeeping.  They spoke German in their home. The Old Heidelburg Lutheran Church was later called the Old Dutch Meeting House.  Baptismal records are there for Frederick, Esther, Peter, Johannas, Anna and Sarah.
