John William SEARLE
Through his paternal grandmother Pickering, he is not only doubly descended from that monarch through his two sons, Edward I. and Edmund Plantagenet (see Elizabeth=to Richard Fitzalan, Earl of Arundel and Surrey), but through the wives of these two Princes, Eleanor and Blanche, is also descended from the Kings of Castile and Leon, and of France. The Pedigree at the Heralds’ College, goes up to Edmund the Exile son of Edmond Ironsides, who m. Agatha, dau. of Henry III. Emperor of Germany, and whose dau. St. Margaret, m. Malcolm Canmore, 3rd King of Scotland. Mr. Searle is, therefore, also descended from the Emperors of Germany, and Kings of Scotland, and the Saxon Kings of England.
