General Notes for Child Mathias Stocker

[18401.ged]

From notes of Karl Sendelbeck (Australia) and Gretel Stiles: Matthaeus Stocker, born in Zechhof, Austria, near W. Schlaming, Obersteirmark. Died In Feucht/Nbg, Germany. Wife and six children fled in April 1736 "across the rock" (within the Dachstein Massive) because of religious beliefs (Exulants).

* * * * * Translated notes of Heinz-Jurgen Stocker:

On the farm of his father, Matthias met his future wife Anna Percht, legitimate daughter of Martin Percht and Ursula Stainer. Anna Percht worked there as a maid-servant. Mathias and Anna had a not-legitimate child, Ursula, who was born Sep 20 1721. Five months later they married. Together they had six more children, but none is registered in the pastorate books of Schladming. Probable they all emigrated. For all six children was the Godfather Franz Josef Miller, surgeon and judge of Schladming, and Godmother, his wife, Ursula Miller, nee Lettmayrin. At the birth of his daughter Marie (1723), Matthias Stocker was registered as an inhabitant of the "Perchtengut" (name of a farm) in Ransau. In 1727 he was a farmer at the "Schistlgut" (name of a farm) in Vorgerg in Ransau. How long he was the owner of this farm is not known, because the date of his death is not registered in the books of Schladming, undoubtedly because he had emigrated.[Downing.ged]
