From McAdams Family book "SONS OF ADAM": JAMES McADAMS, Jr. was borninNorth Carolina in 1773. He spent his adult life in Pickens Co.,Pendleton District of South Carolina. He married Mary Lathumwhosefamily had migrated to SC from Virginia, in about 1814. Theylived on250 acres of land purchased by his father on Doddy's Creek ofthewaters of the Saluda River. He appears in the court recordsofPickens Co. several times. He wrote his will in 1855 which wasprovedin 1863 by his son-in-law Mason Burdine, who was executor ofhisestate. He named his wife, Mary and his 8 children. Theirchildrenwere: James Jr 1815-1881 (m Nancy Burdine), Susannah c 1817 (mJamesClemmens), Helinda (sic) c 1818 (m Mason Burdine), Jermina c 1819(mGeorge W Fair), Sarah c 1820 (m James W Hunt), George L c 1822,andMary Jane c 1830.

He hadafamily of 4 sons and one daughter in 1800 and remained inPickensCounty, SC He married Mary who may have been Mary Teague, cb1776.John and one of his sons had died before his father, James, wrotehiswill in 1828 (sic). James left his son's, John, inheritance to his3unnamed sons. John is believed to have served in the War of 1812.Hiswife, Mary McAdams was issued land grants in Pickens County,Alabamain 1832, but does not appear to have ever lived there. Thereare nofurther records on this family.

Died--Mrs Amanda Jameson McAdams died Sunday, April 11, at the homeofher son, Tom O. Jameson, near Easley, and was buried in theJamesonburying ground. She was in her 80th year. Her maiden name wasAmandaOrr and she was twice married. Her first husband was 'Carrol'Jamesonand two sons survive this marriage, Tom O. of this county andJohn C.of the West. Her second husband was Mr. McAdams and by him twosonssurvive, George McAdams of Texas and Mason B. McAdams of Oklahoma.
