BIO: Bill was one of three WARREN sons who served in World War II. He was granted emergency leave by the Marines to attend the funeral of his brother, Bob, in July, 1994. Because of flight connection problems, he arrived only moments before the service began. He was quite upset, thinking he would be too late. Although there was a period of time that Bill did not stay in close contact with his mother, he eventually did assume most of the burden of seeing to her care in her declining years. Bill and his first wife, Janiece, divorced sometime after the birth of their son, Douglas. Bill moved to KENTUCKY, where he resided from the late 1960s until his death. He and "Pat" McHUGH, his second spouse, had a son who was named for his father. Several years later, Pat and Bill split up, and Bill found his third mate with whom he spent his last years. When his mother's health made it impossible for her to live alone, Bill was the son who assumed responsibility. He and Betty moved Hettie to Winchester, KY, where they were living. For a time, Betty cared for Bill's mother in their mobile home; however Betty was still working so they arranged a place in Winchester Manor, a nearby nursing home. Even after that, Betty and Bill took care of her laundry and other needs, visiting with her often. Bill had two by-pass operations and had suffered some related leg problems after the second surgery. Although limited in activity, he continued to visit and care for his mother on a regular basis. In Feb., 1994, Sarah Hettie developed congestive heart failure; all of her family was called to the hospital in Winchester. She amazed all by improving and later returning to the nursing home. While she was still in the hospital, Bill, who was undoutedly exhausted from the long hours spent at his mother's bedside, was visiting on the porch of one of his neighbors early one morning when he suffered a massive coronary. He was rushed by emergency vehicle to the emergency room, and it was in the E.R. in the hospital where his mother lay recuperating from her own near-death illness that he was pronounced dead just a few hours later.
