The early town records of Rehoboth, MA contain the name s M i llard, Millerd, and Miller used interchangeably------ acco rd ing to the inclination of the scribe rather than a s an i ndi cation to identify any one family or individual . Moreo ve r all pre-Revolutionary inhabitants listed in t he town u s pu blished vital records under any of these thr ee names a re fo und to have been descendents of the John M illard Sr . who wa s a proprietor of Rehoboth in 1643.

The secon d " History of Rehoboth, Mass.", written by Ge orge H. Tilto n wa s published in 1918. Third,"Early Rehob oth", publishe d 194 5-1950 by Richard LaBaron Bowen. Four th, birth, deat hs, ma rriage records from the Town Clerk f rom Rehoboth an d surrou nding towns and throughout Rhode I sland and Connec ticut. F ifth, Court records, wills, deed s, probates and t he like, h ave been used throughout the h istory to provid e conclusiv e proof of marriages and rela tionships.
