"C. DEAN MOW "C. Dean Mow, 79, 416 West Fifth street, former Fulton county commissioner and Richland township trustee, died at 6:55 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Hospital. He had been a patient one month and had been in failing health for 2< months. Mr. Mow was the son of Marion and Eva Clark Mow and was born in Fulton county Nov. 13, 1892. His first marriage was to Grethel Rogers Aug. 27, 1913 in Fulton county. She died in 1967. On July 20 1968, he was married to Eva Jackson Myers in Traverse City, Mich. She survives. Mr. Mow was a resident of Fulton and Marshall counties his entire life except for a five year period when he lived in Michigan. He was a retired school teacher and farmer. His teaching years were spent in schools of Fulton and Marshall counties. He served two terms as Richland township trustee and two terms as county commissioner. Mr. Mow was a member of the Congregational Christian church and the F&AM lodge. He was a past master of the F&AM lodge. Surviving are two grandchildren, Mrs. James (Annette) Wysong, Plymouth; and Leland D. Cox, U.S. Air Force, Big Spring, Texas; three step-children, and nine step-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Cox, died in 1966. Also preceding in death were an infant son and four brothers. Final rites will be in the Congregational Christian church at Argos at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Jacob Waechter will officiate. Burial will be in Richland Center IOOF cemetery. Friends may call at the Foster and Good funeral home until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and at the church for one hour prior to services. The F&AM 399 will conduct memorial services at the funeral home at 8 o'clock tonight. "GRETHEL MOW DIED TODAY AT AGE 73" "Mrs. Grethel Mow, 73, R.R. 5, Rochester, died at 9 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital where she had been a patient since Friday. She had been in declining health for 18< years. Mrs. Mow was born Aug. 9, 1893 in Richland township to William and Arsada Beck Rogers. She had lived all her life in Richland township or the Argos community except five years when she lived in Maneestee county, Mich. She married C. Dean Mow, who survives, on Aug. 27, 1913. She was a member of the Congregational Christian church of Argos and a past member of the What Not Club of Richland township. In addition to her husband she is survived by two grand- children, Mrs. James (Annette) Wysong, Plymouth, and Leland Cox, a student at Purdue university, and two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Towne, Rochester, and Mrs. Otis (Ethel) Nellars, R.R.3, Argos. A daughter, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Cox died July 5, 1966. A son died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by three sisters. BIO: "RIDDLE TEACHER EVELYN COX DIES" " Mrs. Evelyn Cox, 51, R.R.1, Argos, a teacher at Riddle school, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend. Death was unexpected, although she had been ill for a week. Born in Manistee county, Mich., Aug. 23, 1915, she was the daughter of C. Dean and Grethel Rogers Mow, R.R.5, Rochester, who survive. Mrs. Cox was married to Charles Robert Cox, April 30, 1938 in Michigan City. She was the secretary of the Roches- ter Classroom Teachers association and a member of the Argos Methodist church. Surviving with the parents and the husband are a daughter, Mrs. James (Annette) Wysong, Plymouth and one son, Leland, at home. A brother preceded in death. Services will be in the Grossman funeral home at Argos, Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Douglas Stanwyck officiating. Burial will be in the New Oak Hill cemetery at Plymouth. BIO: The following obituary was mailed to compiler by Wilma MOW FOLTZ. The name and date of the newspaper was not given.
"CHARLES MOW May 1, 1919-March 22, 1992 Services were to be at 1 p.m. today in the Hartzler- Gutermuth Funeral Home, Elkhart, for Charles M. Mow, 72, Elkhart. The Rev. Stephen Kolderup was to officiate, and burial was to be in the Rice Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Mr. Mow died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday in the Americana Healthcare Center, Elkhart, where he had been a patient since June. He was born in Fulton County. On Aug. 18, 1946 in Grandville, Ohio, he married Mary J. Thompson, who survives. He held bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana Univer- sity. He also attended Manchester College and the University of Notre Dame. He taught school a short time in Fulton County before entering the Army Air Corps during World War II and serving in the China-Burma Theater of War. He then taught in the Elkart system, starting with Lincoln School where he was principal. Afterwards, he joined the Midwest Commerce Banking Company and became manager of its Travel Unlimited Edition, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Elkart Exchange Club, the I.U. Alumni Association and the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sons, Mark T., Elkart, and Joe W., Middlebury, six grandchildren, and a sister, Jane Barts, Rochester. BIO: "Clate" MOW, as compiler's father called him, is the father of Wilma MOW FOLTZ. of Rochester, IN. Wilma has been invaluable to compiler as a source of data, obituaries and other printed material since contact was established in 1994. Mrs. FOLTZ has a hobby of collecting this type of history, not only for her family but extended lines who have roots in northern Indiana. ******************** DALLAS C. MOW Dies at 76 Years "Dallas Clayton Mow, 76, R.R. 3, Rochester, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eldrith Cook, R.R. 3, Rochester. Mr. Mow had been in failing health for the past year. He had then resided with Mrs. Cook for the past seven months. Mr. Mow was the son of Marion and Eva Clark Mow. He was born in Richland Township May 14, 1885, and resided all his life in this community. Mr. Mow married Sarah O'Blenis on March 19, 1913. She died in April, 1951. Surviving with the daughter, Mrs. Eldrith (Eloise) Cook, are two other daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Ruth) Cook, Argos, and Mrs. Robert (Wilma) Foltz, Rochester; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dean Mow, R.R. 5, Rochester, and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Grandview EUB church with the former pastor of that church, the Rev. Paul Steele, officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Center IOOF cemetery. Friends may call at the Foster and Good funeral home after 7 p.m. today and until 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services."

SARAH MOW RITES HELD TODAY Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1 o'clock for Mrs. Sarah Estella Mow, 63, of route three, at the Grand- view EUB church in Richland township. Mrs. Mow died Saturday, noon, at her home in that township after a six week illness. The deceased was born March 20, 1888, in Fulton county and had been a resident of Richland township for many years. Her parents were Frank and Emeline (Miller) O'Blenis. She was married to Clayton Mow in 1913. Surviving are the husband, three daughters, Mrs. Esther Ruth Cook, Mrs. Wilma Burnett and Mrs. Eloise Cook, all of whom reside in Richland township; four sisters; Mrs. Lydia Marshall, Rochester; Mrs. Lillie Armstrong, Pleasant Dale, Saskatchewan, Canada; Mrs. Nora Wright, Argos; Mrs. Alice Armstrong, Decatur, ILL. A brother, William O'Blenis, and a sister, Mrs. Amanda Drake, preceded in death as did three brothers who died in infancy. Burial was made in the Richland Center IOOF cemetery with the Rev. Myron M. Kottke in charge."
Per the 1920 census, "Sarah E." MOW was 31 years of age. At the time of the census enumeration, Eloise L. was five and Esther R. was two years, two months of age.

BIO: "DENNIS MOW Dennis Willam Mow, 25, Rt. 2, Angola, died at his residence Friday evening of carbon monoxide poisoning. Death is attributed to be accidental. Mr. Mow was born May 8, 1955 in Rochester to Virginia Goss Mow, Angola and Robert Mow, Fort Myers, Fla. He had lived most of his life in the Angola area. He was a carpenter. Surviving with the parents are two brothers, Wayne and Kirk, both of Angola, and several aunts and uncles. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Klinks Funeral Home, Angola. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. David Heyward officiating. Foster and Good Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements.
13 Nov. 1996: Research of S.S. Death Index CD shows that the death benefits were sent to Fort Myers, FL; this would indicate that Robert MOW, Dennis MOW's father was still residing in Ft. Myers as of Dec. 1980.

BIO: DOROTHY PEARSON Dorothy Pearson, 67, of Regency Place Health Care Center died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1984, in the Center. She was born April 6, 1917 in South Bend and lived here all her life. On July 29, 1939 as Dorothy Mow, she married Paul Pearson, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas of West Lafayette and Kenneth of Corona, Calif. three grand children; a sister Betty Bowerman of Georgetown, Ky.; a brother Robert Mow of Mishawaka. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 So. Ironwood Drive and burial will follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. She was a member of Chapter 569 Order of Eastern Star. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Per the folder, Dorothy's funeral was held Sept. 21, 1984. Rev. Benj. G. Thomas officiated.

BIO: "EDWARD LEE MOW DIES EARLY TODAY" "Edward Lee Mow, 40, died early this morning in his sleep at his home on R.R. 3, Rochester, 5< miles northwest of the city. He had been ill for the past five years. Born July 12. 1919, in Richland township, he was married Jan. 14, 1938, at Koontz Lake to Margaret Alice Zumbaugh, who survives. Mr. Mow had spent his entire life in this community. A member of the First Presbyterian church and the Manitou Moose lodge, he was employed at Bendix Products in South Bend from 1942-58. Surviving, besides the wife are two daughters; Shannon Sue, 10 and Sheridan Louise, 17, both at home; one son, Phillip Lee, a student at DePauw university; his mother, Mrs. Esther Mow, R.R.5, Rochester; one sister, Mrs. Roy (Helen) McGriff, R.R.1, Rochester; twin brothers, William R.R.5, Rochester, and Robert, R.R.4, Angola, and several nephews and nieces. His father and one grandson preceded him in death, the former June 21, 1958. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. Donald Decker, Garfield Park, Ill., officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Schumacher. Burial will be in the Richland Center IOOF cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday and until noon Monday at Foster and Good funeral home and at the church from 1-2 p.m. Monday."

BIO: In March, 1884, Eleanor's brothers, Henry and Enoch, and her husband, William SHOUP, took part in the sale of land to John HISSONG in Richland Twp. On that document, Henry's wife, Hannah, also was a participant, but Eleanor apparently was not involved directly. In 1889, Eleanor and five of her brothers and sisters applied for pension benefits from their father's Civil War disability. On the application, she gives her exact date of birth. There is no mention of her first name on the file, but on the marriage index it appears as "Maude E. MOW." On the WFT CD, Ms. NORDQUIST records this child of David and Eleanor MOW as "Eleanor Medhurst".

A separate sheet of paper in the file contains only the words, "Claim appears to be abandoned". Another form shows the receipt of Jacob's letter dated Oct. 27, 1906. This form is headed "ABANDONED" and contains only the name of Adam Mow, his address in DeLong, Ind and the fact that the claim was filed on 07 June 1889.

BIO: Eunice was one of three baby girls born after David's return from military service. In 1889, Eunice and other sibs filed for children's benefits from their father's service related disability. In Sept, 1906, her husband, Jacob ZEITER wrote the pension dept. for the status of the application. The file was shown as abandoned at that time. In June, 1889, Eunice gave her address as Roann, Wabash Co., IN In the "More About" comments concerning Eunice in the WFT Disk, there is a statement that Eunice was the mother of still-born twin girls.
