General Notes (Husband)



BIOGRAPHY: Nehemiah served 10 weeks in the Continental Army in 1775 and 6 months in 1776,1777 and 1778 also.  He enlisted in 1781 as a private for 3 years, was promoted to Sergeant and then became one of Washington's Life Guards.  He washonorably discharged in 1783 on Constitution Island, opposite West Point.  He died on a farm in Albion, Maine, where he spent the rest of his life.

BIOGRAPHY: Newell lived for several years inBangor, Maine and then went to Arkansas for a few years where he built severallarge brick houses.  He then settled in Chicago, Illinois with his family where he managed The Planters House and Sanquash Hotel.
