From the Don Norman Page:
Elizabeth Nutter, a daughter of Matthew Jr. and Affa (Webb) Nutter, was born in Harriso n County VA (WV) March 15, 1812 and died there June 27, 1882. She married John Ross in Harri son County January 8, 1829. John died in Harrison County April 11, 1835. Elizabeth next married Joseph Lawson in Harrison County. Joseph must have died before 1850, since Eliza beth is shown as a head of a household in the 1850 Harrison County census.

He died in 1782 in Harrison Co., WV. Since his wife is listed but not him on the 1810 cens us I assume he had died by this time.

According to Laura Miller (jermil@pilot.infi.net) Susannah was the daughter of Jonas Webb J r and Elizabeth Nutter Webb. I was correct on my conclusions of the census data below.
He was married to Elizabeth Nutter about 1758 in Monongalia Co., WV. On the 1810 VA censu s there are the following Web/Webb in Harrison Co, WV. Webb, Benjamin 80 22101-30110-00 Webb, Benjamin 105 00100-10100-00 Webb, Elizabeth 82 00100-00011-00 Webb, Nathan 105 11010-12010-00 Webb, Thomas 99 22001-21101-17

(????? Mary and Susan's father should be approx. 60 years old in1810. This would be onl y Benjamin or Thomas in the correct age but possibly they are the generation younger. Benjam in's wife is only in the 26-45 year range which lets her out. Thomas Webb has a wife over 4 5 andElizabeth Webb is listed as over 45. These seem the best two bets.)

Notes from "Patton Lineages" by David Agricola, 1998, pg. 17.13

Israel Patton, b. ca. 1776, a younger son, married Susannah Webb Dec. 27, 1799. She was a dau ghter of ______ Webb. Israel Patton and wife Hannah (signed by mark) witnessed a deed concern ing chattel goods to John Patton in Dec 1808. (Source: Harrison Co. VA Deed records 1785-181 0 by John Davis, 1993). In his will, Francis Patton stipulates "To my two younger sons T. W . Israel and Robert Patton, the home place to be divided as some two or three neighbors shal l think best..."

The 1810 Harrison Co. Census has no Israel Patton but shows an Isaac Patton (40010-01010) th e right age to be this man. Israel seems to have sold his place ca. 1815 (confirming record n eeds to be found) and moved to Ohio. Hocking Co., OH was established in 1818 and on the firs t tax list (only a few dozen names) we find Israel Patton. He was there on the 1820 Census i n Falls Two. (30210-31010) which if we allow for the death of two young sons, between 1810-18 20 would match the family structure of "Isaac" Patton as mentioned above. The estate record s of Hocking Co. show that his estate was admitted to probate in 1821. (Case 6, page 49).

Tax lists are available for 1819-1825 but I have not checked them. In 1825 an Israel Patton i s the only Patton listed in Hocking Co., maybe a son? In 1830 census his widow Susannah was h ead of family, living in Green Twp. (0020.1-0011.001), now joined by four other Patton househ olds.

(We NEED to find out the names of the children of Israel and Susannah!)
