General Notes (Husband)
Sir David Ap Rees' son, (Rev.) David Ap Rees, was a Pr esbyterian pastor at Cardigan, Wales. He married Maud, daug hter of Sir Meridith Owen, of South Wales. This David Rees , on coming to America in 1700, added a final "e" to the na me, spelling it Reese. David and Maud had several children , some of whom were: Ruth, Ester, and David. They landed a t New Castle, Delaware; some of the family moved too Pennsy lvania, but his son, David (1709-1808), went to North Carol ina.
General Notes for Child David Reese Reverend
This David Reese (1709-1801), born in Brecknoc, Wales, mov ed to North Carolina and was a signer of the famous Mecklen burg Declaration of Independence, at Charlotte, North Carol ina on May 20, 1775, and gave five sons to fight in the Rev olutionary War. In 1737, he married Susan Ruth Polk), grand daughter of Robert Polk of Maryland. Their children: Jame s Polk, Thomas, Catherine Ruth, David Tasker, Susan Polk, C harles, George, Mary Joanna, Solomon Trusten, and Ruth Eliz abeth.
