"James Paxton, of the Virginia family, removed to Pennsylv ania and was a Rev. officer and member of the "Order of Cin cinnatus", the old parchment certificate of which is preser ved in the family, dated 1783, and signed by George Washing ton and Maj. Gen. John Knox, Secretary. His son, John Addem s Paxton, came to New Orleans, and was compiler of its firs t city directory. He was grandfather of Wm. H. Cantzon of N ew Orleans."
