General Notes for Child Alpha Peebles Trotter
He married his third cousin Ida Lawrence Barlow. In his early manhood,Alpha Peebles Trotter was a soldier in his father's company intheCivil War. After the war he went into the Drug Store business inDuckHill, Ms. Then he farmed in Carroll County, Ms. for several years.Fortwenty-five years he was a traveling salesman for drugs.

He attended the public schools of Lodi, Mississippi, a ndlaterentered Cumberland University at Lebanon, Tennessee, where hewasgraduated with the degree of Bachelor of Law in June, 1871. Inthefollowing year Walter Trotter located at Winona, where hepracticedfor over thirty years, being a member of the Law firm ofSweatman,Trotter and Knoz. A deep Student, and possessing legal mind,Waltersoon became one of the shining lights of the bar, and was knownas asure Judge of the law, and one of the foremost lawyers ofMississippi.He was one of the stalwarts of his day in the Democraticranks ofMississippi, having been a member of the executive ofcommittee ofthis part of the state in 1895. In 1896 he represented thestate againas presidential elector, having been one of the staunchsupporters ofWilliam J.Bryan. He served as president of the Bank ofWinona fortwelve years.
At an early age Walter became a member of the Baptist Church,andthroughout his life was a prominent figure in the varied activitiesofthat Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent for a numberofyears, and at the time of his demise was senior deacon, whichpositionhe had filled for many years.
Many young men owe, in a measure, their success in life tothefinancial aids rendered them by Mr. Trotter. A keen judge ofhumanity,he seldom failed to aid any deserving young man who askedhisassistance. He died at his home here, Winona, August 16,1915;interred in Oakwood Cemetery.

James Trotter graduate from the University of Mississippi Law School,University, Ms. Practiced Law in Vaiden and Winona, Ms. HemarriedMarch 23,1887, in Winona, Ms., Annie Kittrell.
Later, he moved to Bessemer, Alabama, where he was StewardandTrustee of the First Methodist Church of Bessemer; AttorneyforSouthern Railroad; City Attorney; in connection with his Law workhewas Agent of the American Alliance Insurance Company, New York. HewasAttorney for Bessemer National Bank; also Director of the Bankuntilhis death, June 16, 1915. He is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery,Bessemer, Alabama. For two years before his death,his wife attendedtohis Insurance business for him, and was appointed Agent afterhisdeath. She still occupies this position in 1948.
