Clemmons was draafted into the 61st. Regiment Tennessee Infantry, Company A, at Rheatow,Greene Co, Ten on September 18, 1862. Dark hair, dark eyes, dark complexion, 5'10" tall. Taken prisoner in Vicksburg, July 4, 1863 and was paroled. He deserted at Greeneville, Tn on March 25, 1865. Taken prisoner at Chattanooga, Tn April 14, 1865.
