History of Ritchie County The following is taken from the book "History of Ritchie County" written by Minnie Kendall Lo wther, and published in 1910. Transcribed by Janet Waite.
Chapter VII South Fork Settlers---Continued
Wilson Ancestry. - The Wislons have a remarkably interesting ancestral line. One, which, in p art, belongs to National History. They are of Scotch-Irish descent. Their antecessor, Willia m Wilson, was born in Ireland, on November 16, 1722. He was the son of Davis Wilson, and th e grandson of David Davis Wilson, of Scotland. He married Miss Elizabeth Blackburn, who was a lso a native of "Old Erin",: she having been born on February 2, 1725; and near the year 1755 , they came to America, and settled in Shenandoah county, Virginia. Here, Mr. Wilson died o n June 12, 1801, and his wife on September 2, 1806.
They were the parents of eleven children, four of whom were born before they crossed the sea: 1. Benjamin born November 30, 1747. 2. Archibald born June 13, 1749. 3. David born September 8, 1751. 4. William born February 8, 1854. (should say 1754) 5. John born April 12, 1756. 6. Moses born May 1, 1758 and died in 1760. 7. Moses, 2nd born April 8, 1761. 8. James born July 25, 1763. 9. Solomon born July 2, 1766. 10. Elizabeth (twin) born July 2, 1766. 11. Margaret born April 7, 1768.
John Wilson, the fifth son, and the first one born in America, was a native of Shenandoah cou nty, Virginia. He married Miss Mary Wathin, a French maiden, and from him the Ritchie count y branch of the family is descended. He being the father of Archibald, John, and Mrs. Dorca s (Augustus) Modisette, of this county; Blackburn, of Walker; Mrs. Temperance (Moses) Thompso n, Harrison county; and Mrs. Mary (G. W.) Shinn, Doddridge county.
He (John Wilson) lived and died at Beverly in Randolph county, where he served as clerk of th e County court for more than thirty years. He was engaged in a desperate Indian fight at Whee ling when he was a lad of eighteen years, and was severely wounded.
His final resting place is at Beverly.

I talked to my Aunt and she said that she remembers talking to William Francis and he tol d her that he thought that michael Wilson and his first wife also had 12 children and 12 wit h his second wife. He said that there were 24 children altogether. I also have a couple child ren that she gave me from Michael & Rachel.

OLEY WILSON
Oley D. Wilson, 90, of Vienna, died Saturday, Mar. 25, 2000, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospita l.
He was born in Brooksville, the son of the late Albert Michael and Rachel Collins Wilson. H e worked for WPA, owned and operated a landscape service in Parkersburg, worked for Penn Meta l for three years, retired from Brockaway Glass after 23 years, and owned and operated a cabi net shop with his two sons. He attended Briscoe Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Elvie B. Otis of Baytown, Tex., Evelyn L. Barringer of Reedsvil le, Louisa L. "Peg" Richards of Vienna, Dollie S. Clark of Macksburg, and Ruth A. Deem of Vie nna; 29 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie R. Maddox Wilson; two sons, Lee J. Wilson and Alb ert M. Wilson; two daughters, Rachel K. Johnson and Iona V. Gault; four brothers; and three s isters.
Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Gary Lovens and Pastor C arl L. Nutter officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum
