Alfred and Zora (Power) Spurgeon had 7 children in Johnson Township, Clinton County, Indiana. Alfred was a farmer, and an accomplished carpenter, and blacksmith. He built his home in 1916 at 830 East 1316 North in Clinton County. The house although modified somewhat is still standing. The barn has been modified into a tool shed, but the main frame is still there and was built by Alfred's father, who died shortly after the barn was finished when Alfred was 12 years old. Russell B Spurgeon. born Feb 20, 1896, died Jan 31, 1977 at the age of 80. Russell was a Frankfort, Indiana city fireman. Russell went into the U. S. Army in Sept 20, 1917, and was in several battles in France, including the Soisson, Aug 28, 1918, Sept 7, 1918, the Argonne, Sept 23, 1918, Nov 11, 1918. He was discharged from the Army on May 23, 1919.
